Modern Hillside Home – 4 Bedroom New Build

This project involved the construction of a contemporary four-bedroom family home on a challenging hillside plot. Designed to respond to the steep terrain, the build carefully balances modern architecture with robust structural solutions.

The property was constructed using modern ICF (Insulated Concrete Formwork) systems, providing exceptional thermal performance, strength, and long-term energy efficiency. The ICF structure allowed for clean, modern lines while ensuring the building was well suited to the demands of the sloping site.

Due to the nature of the hillside location, the project required extensive retaining wall construction. These were creatively formed using reclaimed railway sleepers, adding both structural stability and a natural, textured aesthetic that integrates the home into its surroundings.

The result is a striking, durable, and energy-efficient modern home that maximises its elevated position while overcoming the complexities of a challenging landscape.
